Benefit cookout, yard sale

There will be a benefit cookout and yard sale for leukemia victim Rantavian Scott from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. today at U.S. 72 West and Hine Street. Robinson reunion

Descendants of Hezekiah Robinson will have a reunion today at the Elkmont Depot. Bring a covered dish for lunch at noon. Call (256) 732-4548.



Barker Cemetery

The Barker Cemetery annual decoration day is from 8 a.m. until noon today. If unable to attend, donations can be mailed to Phillip Barker, 15260 Quinn Road, Athens, AL 35611.



Sydney Newton blood drive

American Red Cross Blood Drive for Sydney Newton, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Johnson Elementary School, 21360 Alabama 251, Athens.



Germantown Reunion

The Germantown Reunion is today at the Oak Grove Community building on Thach Road. Lunch at noon. Bring a covered dish and drinks.



Concert sponsors needed

Disabled Americans Veterans are looking for sponsors for a benefit concert for “veterans needs” at 7 tonight at the Athens Opry Event Center on Airport Road. The concert lineup includes Razzy Bailey and Bobby G. Rice, among others. Call (256) 230-6164.



Dinner theater

Legion stew

Canner check

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System will be testing canner pressure gauges from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at U.G. White Hardware at Jefferson and Market streets.

o Community meetings. The Athens City Council is conducting a series of meetings to get resident input on public sewers in their neighborhoods. Ezell Subdivision will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 20, at the municipal courtroom at 951 E. Hobbs St.; Byrum Heights at 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, in the old council chambers, 201 N. Marion; and Hannah Heights, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 23, at 201 N. Marion.
