Medical equipment donation

Living Water Works Ministries will accept crutches, wheelchairs, scooters or other sick room equipment and lien-free running vehicles from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the old Kroger parking lot. Tax exemption slips will be given but no cash. Medical equipment will also be available to give out to those in need. Call (256) 431-4111.



Craig family reunion

The descendants of Monroe and Adaline Craig will meet for a family reunion at noon today at Owens Senior Center on Alabama 99.



Market grand opening

Ardmore Farmers Market will hold its grand opening today, off Alabama 53, behind the Pizza Hut. Events include a vendor’s drawing at 8 a.m., ribbon-cutting ceremony and flag presentation at 9 a.m., Master Gardener information table at 10 a.m., and live bluegrass music at 11 a.m. The market will be open Saturdays from sunrise to 1 p.m. Call (256) 423-8872.



Daylily sale

The North Alabama Daylily Society will host its annual plant sale in the parking lot of The Greenery at Hampton Cove subdivision in Huntsville from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today. Variety of colors, sizes and types available below market price. Club members will answer questions about care and use of daylilies in gardens or landscape. Call (256) 233-4354.



Doggie bath day

Helping Our Pets in Limestone County will sponsor a doggie “splish-splash bath” day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today at Heritage Propane at 17026 U.S. 72 West, across from West End Chevron. Proceeds will help feed, vaccinate, spay or neuter, and shelter pets of local families with limited income. Cost is $5 for small dogs; $10 for medium dogs; and $15 for large dogs. Dogs must be on a leash. No aggressive dogs. No haircuts or nail trimming. Each participant will receive $5 off a 20-pound barbecue grill cylinder from Heritage Propane. Call (256) 431-5784.

Alzheimer’s cookout

The Alzheimer’s Support Group will host its annual cookout from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, at Limestone Manor off U.S. 31. Hamburgers and hot dogs provided; you bring potato salad, baked beans, chips and dip, desserts or other sides. For more information, call Amanda Duffield at (256) 232-8697.

Mud Volleyball deadline

Deadline for the 21st Annual CASA Mud Volleyball tournament is noon Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Entry forms, may be found at the CASA office located at 409 South Marion Street in Athens, by calling (256) 232-5751, or visiting the Web site at www.casalimestonecounty.org. Kiddie Carnival

Athens Lions Club Kiddie Carnival is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Ride tickets are 50 cents with 10 rides including swings, Ferris wheel, roller coaster and the train. Bingo and concessions available at the Kiddie Carnival located on Forrest Street across from Athens Middle School.

Swamp John dinner

Owens Senior Center will host a Swamp John dinner from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9. Tickets are $10. Proceeds go to the senior center.



Baker family reunion

The Baker family reunion will be held Sept. 12, 2009 at Cloverleaf Drive in Athens. Family members planning to attend should contact Willie Lewis Baker at (256) 232-0766 for more information.

• NARFE. The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1480 will meet at 9 a.m. today, June 27, at the Veterans Museum on Pryor Street in Athens.
