A record-setting season for the West Limestone girls soccer squad came to an abrupt end Tuesday night in picturesque Jones Valley, as No. 6 Randolph defeated the No. 7 Wildcats 2-0 to advance to the third round of the Class 1A-4A state playoffs.
The Raiders (12-6-4), the state runner-up last season, will play at No. 1 John Paul Catholic III on Saturday with the winner advancing to the Final Four. This was the third straight season the Raiders eliminated West in the postseason. -

East Limestone advanced to the second round of the 5A playoffs Tuesday with a 2-0 win at Fort Payne.

No. 1 Athens beats Southside to set up rematch with East
Athens scored four goals in the first seven minutes of the second half to cruise past Southside-Gadsden for an 8-0 sub-state playoff victory Tuesday night. The win set up a rematch with East Limestone Saturday after the Indians defeated Fort Payne 2-0 Tuesday.

Ardmore moves on, will host again
Ardmore was an out away from losing to Madison County Friday afternoon in a second-round playoff series. After rallying to win 5-4, Ardmore had little trouble Monday in the second game of the playoff series.
