Ardmore High School football offensive coordinator Clint Legg was hired to fill the head coaching vacancy at Ardmore during the Limestone County Board of Education meeting Tuesday night at the Clinton Street annex.
Legg, 43, replaces Shannon Brown, who resigned in November to take an administrative position with Huntsville Center for Technology. Brown spent four years at Ardmore, where he compiled a 13-27 record overall and a 5-5 record this season.
This is Legg’s first stint as a head football coach. He has 18 years of coaching experience, including stops at Hazel Green, Lee-Huntsville, Sheffield and West Limestone.
“I have to mention Jimmy Don Nave, Mike Nave, David O’Connor and John Meadows at Lee, Chris Tucker at Sheffield and one of my best friends, (East Limestone head coach Jeff Pugh), for everything they have done for me,” said Legg, who celebrated his new gig with a late dinner with family and friends at a local restaurant. “I appreciate all of these guys for giving the expertise to help me get where I’m at today.”
Legg, who has taught history for 15 years, will teach physical education at Ardmore beginning the spring semester.
“I’m really excited and ready to get started,” he said. “It’s a great place to coach, with good administrators, parents, and fans.”
He plans to use a run-oriented offense based out of the pro-style I-formation attack.
“I’m going to add more to what we ran this season if we have enough kids come out for the team in the spring,” Legg said.
