Everyone got involved for East Limestone Friday night in a 41-14 homecoming win over James Clemens. The Indians had 17 players carry the ball in the team effort, racking up 278 yards on the ground.
Blake Tucker got things started for East four minutes into the game when he scored from six yards out. Jevon Turner scored the Indians’ second touchdown on a 14-yard scamper with 11:19 left in the second quarter.
Less than two minutes later, Mathew Franks connected with Tristian Matthews on a 62-yard touchdown pass to give East a three score cushion. Franks finished the game completing 4-of-7 pass attempts for 119 yards and a touchdown while sophomore Brick Pugh completed 2-of-4 pass attempts for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Pugh’s first touchdown of the season came in the fourth quarter when he connected with Chase Long for a 16-yard touchdown. Mark Boersma added a 11-yard touchdown run in the second quarter while leading rusher Torren Haley scored on a 53-yard run in the third.
Haley finished with 10 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. James Clemens’ two touchdowns were scored by Mathew Stewart in the second and fourth quarters.
East Limestone (2-3, 1-2) will travel to Athens (1-4, 1-2) for a rivalry game with playoff implications Friday night.
