— Recapping Friday night’s football action in Limestone County …
Tanner 49
Lexington 7
Tanner’s defense never let Lexington in the game at Rip Swanner Field. The Rattlers held Lexington to 130 total yards and one touchdown. Tanner’s ground game produced 245 yards and quarterback Jonathan Fletcher was 6-of-8 for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Lauderdale County 48
Clements 14
No. 6 Lauderdale County scored six rushing touchdowns before halftime and cruised to an easy region victory at Clements. The Colts snapped a two-game scoreless drought when Marcus McNaughton connected with Demarcus Johnson for a 55-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
West Limestone 36
East Lawrence 27
West Limestone rushed for nearly 300 yards for the second time this season and picked up its first region win of the season. The Wildcats’ defense stopped East Lawrence on back-to-back fourth downs in the fourth quarter to pull away with the win.
Elkmont 28
West Morgan 14
Elkmont averaged more than seven yards per carry behind a big night from the Red Devil’s offensive line. With the score tied at halftime, the Red Devils scored two second- half touchdowns to earn their first victory of the season.
Muscle Shoals 38
Athens 3
Athens did something no other opponent has done this season by scoring on Muscle Shoals, but it was not enough in a lopsided loss to Class 5A’s No. 2 team. The field goal was set up by a long fumble return, an Athens strong point this season.
Ardmore 33
Randolph 7
Ardmore improved its playoff chances and stayed undefeated at home with a region win over Randolph at Cooper Field. The Tigers outgained the visitors 362 to 94 in total yards, including 362 on the ground.
East Limestone 48
Lawrence County 6
More than a dozen players carried the ball for East Limestone in their blowout region win over Lawrence County. Mathew Franks threw for two touchdowns and Torren Haley ran for two more.
