Indians tough schedule ends in Auburn

AUBURN — From staff reports

East Limestone has played one of the toughest schedules in school history, so it was only fitting the Indians end their season with a game against 6A No. 5 Auburn. The Tigers were too much for East Limestone, which left Auburn with a 49-14 defeat.

Auburn jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead that proved too much for East Limestone to overcome. Dontavious Brooks, Cameron Reese and Gevon Jones all scored on first half runs to give the home team a commanding lead. Quarterback Selwyn Torbert connected with Kyle Fites for the Tigers other score of the first half.

Torbert scored again on a 40-yard in the third quarter. Auburn rushed for 215 yards and had 319 total yards as a team.

Not to be outdone, East Limestone racked up 231 yards as a team in the loss. Led by Torren Haley, who finished his prep career with 152 yards on 29 carries. Haley put the Indians on the scoreboard in the third quarter on a 28-yard run. The senior added another touchdown in the fourth quarter.

East Limestone attempted 59 running plays with nine different players. The Indians finished the season 4-6, playing five ranked teams and six that will compete in postseason games next week.
