Commemorative service to be held on six-month anniversary of twisters

— In remembrance of the April 27 deadly tornado outbreak six months ago, the city of Athens and Limestone County will pause for a moment of reflection at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Storytelling Festival tent on Marion Street. The moment of silence, which will last approximately five to 10 minutes, will give citizens a chance to reflect on the impact the storms had on the community. It will also honor the community as it came together and responded to those in need.  Chris Preston, a victim of the April 27 outbreak, will offer a prayer. Preston’s home, business and place of worship, Bethel Church of Christ, were destroyed, as well as the homes of his sons and mother.
