— Ellis and Judy Burgess of Athens celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 21 at their home in Athens with their children and grandchildren. They were married Aug. 19, 1960 in Opelika. The couple’s children are Dana and husband Kim Scott of Clanton, Cheryl and husband Tom Westlake of Huntsville, Jennifer and husband Gary Dale Stiles of Harvest and Adam and wife Jessica Burgess of Athens. They have six grandchildren, Eric Slagle of Fort Drum, N.Y., Judy Slagle, Beth Slagle and Jeffrey Slagle, all of Harvest and Makayla Burgess and Justin Burgess, both of Athens.
