Lowell and Gloria Smith of Athens celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 2 at Valley Event Center. The celebration was hosted by their children. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were married on July 19, 1959, at First Baptist Church in Athens. They have three children, Curtis Smith and wife Pam, Joyce Bailey and husband Jeff, and Steven Smith and wife Tara; and six grandchildren, Justin Smith and wife Breanna, Clay Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Emily Bailey, Nathan Smith, and Natalie Smith.
