Athens seeks to support Oklahoma
The Police Department is inviting the public to gather Friday, May 24, at noon on the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse. There will be a short commemorative service for the tornado victims and first responders in Oklahoma.

Athens High School students Kendall Gower, left, and Sarah Foret, center, coat Ava Hoffmann, 5, with a colorful mixture of flour and cornstarch and streams of water during Thursday’s Jessica Elkins Meningitis Fun Run at Cowart Elementary School. Hoffmann is the daughter of Michelle and Timothy Hoffmann, who returned home May 1 from a more than 10-month deployment in Qatar. He is a member of the Alabama Army National Guard’s 152nd Military Police Company.

Ardmore golf team headed back to state
In pouring rain, Ardmore shot a 335 as a team to finish second behind Guntersville, which won the section by shooting 310.
